USQ scientist selected to share ideas with world's elite
A University of Southern Queensland (USQ) scientist has been awarded an all expenses paid trip to the United States to present his research work at an international conference on climate change.
Dr Tek Maraseni a Research Fellow at USQ ‘s Condamine Alliance and Australian Centre for Sustainable Catchments (ACSC) is one of just 34 scientists from around the world selected to participate at the Arizona conference in November.
Invited by the prestigious North American, National Science Foundation (NSF), the conference will hear how Dr Maraseni's research into the planting of different types of vegetation can reduce the effects of pollution.
In his work Dr Maraseni compared how crop plantings, plantation growing and pasture might lessen the effects of the major greenhouse gases of carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane.
Selected from a large number of international researchers Dr Maraseni said his participation at the conference was recognition of the research strengths within the ACSC.
Dr Maraseni has published several papers in international journals and conference proceedings since the completion of his PhD in 2007.
