USQ partners with Ipswich law firm

Ipswich solicitors McNamara & Associates are donating five dollars from every invoice to USQ's Law School's Green Initiative.  USQ Law is one of the first Australian Law Schools to set up such a green initiative and has also adopted a policy on Law School Sustainability Practices.

As the recipient of these funds from McNamara and Associates, the USQ Law School is planning a number of initiatives, including an Environmental Law Symposium at Springfield.

'The donations by McNamara & Associates will bring together experts in the field, together with academics, practitioners and students, and allow us to address these growing legal areas of importance,' said Professor Geraldine Mackenzie, Head of the School of Law at USQ.  

Other considerations for the future investment of these funds include contribution to enviro-legal research and contribution to the development of green law initiatives. 

'We are delighted to be working with USQ to encourage the growth in understanding of legal-environmental issues, and we look forward to contributing to this wonderful cause in an ongoing manner,' said Kerian McNamara, Partner with McNamara & Associates. 

McNamara & Associates recognises the importance of environmental issues throughout the world and recognises that the lawyers of our present and future need to have a solid awareness and understanding of green issues in law.  They already practice the processes of an environmentally friendly workplace, with recycling, energy efficiency and paper use minimisation as part of the firm's day-to-day practises and have now sought to do something more to contribute to the future of the environment.
