Creativity on show this weekend at USQ
The results of ten days of intensive art classes will be on show this weekend as students from the University of Southern Queensland's (USQ) 40th annual McGregor Summer School present the McGregor Arts Festival on Saturday, 19 January 2008.
Paintings, embroidery, stalls, junior theatre, creative writing, stained glass, an orchestral performance and even stand-up comedy routines will be showcased throughout the afternoon.
McGregor Schools Client Liaison Officer Liz Newbury said the Festival was a wonderful opportunity to see works of talented people from all over the country presented in Toowoomba.
'It's the culmination of ten days of people's dedication to their work,' Mrs Newbury said.
'It's just amazing to see what students achieve in such a short time.'
The Summer School exhibition will feature pieces created during the school from 12:30pm in the Refectory and the Quadrangle, weather permitting.
'The music finale is around 2:45pm in the Arts Theatre,' Mrs Newbury said.
Junior Theatre students will showcase their talents in the Concert Hall at 12pm and students from the stand-up comedy class will perform in the Concert Hall from 2pm.
A barbecue will be run by the USQ Student Guild from 12 to 2pm in the Quadrangle.
'People will also be able to purchase works by our students; enjoy wandering through the stalls and witness the skills and talents who make up the McGregor Summer School,' she said.
The 40th Anniversary book Celebrating 40 years of the McGregor Summer School 1969-2008 will be available for purchase during the afternoon.
