Learn from the best at McGregor Arts Retreat
Local art enthusiasts have an opportunity to learn from some of Australia's finest artists at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) 21st annual McGregor Winter School.
The renowned retreat offers visual and creative arts classes in an intensive five-day setting from Monday, 30 June to Friday, 4 July 2008.
McGregor Schools Program Administrator Christine Matthews said spaces are available in five of the twelve classes on offer this winter.
'We still have places in a few of the oil painting classes, as well as watercolour, pastels and digital photography,' Ms Matthews said.
'The dynamic pastels class with Louise Corke is ideal for the artist who wants to explore basic principles with a broader vision,' she said.
Acclaimed Brisbane artist Margaret Fredrickson will teach the observational skills necessary for capturing the essence of a portrait, while award-winning Gold Coast artist Helen Beaver will explore the art of portraying mood in watercolours.
Local photographer Don Hildred will explain the next step in capturing digital images and explore the endless possibilities with Adobe Photoshop in his Digital Photography workshop.
Ms Matthews said the McGregor Winter School offers participants the opportunity to completely immerse themselves in a world of art.
'The school is a chance to increase your artistic skills and improve your knowledge while working with some of the country's best teachers.
'It is a time when art enthusiasts can meet like-minded people and escape their normal daily lives.'
