Pink Lady Luncheon a sell out

The Pink Lady Luncheon has sold out
More than 350 tickets to the Pink Lady Luncheon at USQ sold out in just a few weeks leaving organisers with a waiting list.

Hosted by Mrs Desolie Lovegrove, wife of USQ Vice Chancellor, Professor Bill Lovegrove, the luncheon will raise funds for Breast Cancer Network Australia.

Special guest speaker at the event will be Governor of Queensland Ms Penelope Wensley AO.

Organising committee member Mrs Liz Newberry said the committee was overwhelmed by support for the event.

'The Pink Lady Luncheon grew out of an idea to raise funds for Breast Cancer. Last year Liz and her staff sold pink cup cakes which raised $1,000.00,' she said. 'Somehow one thing led to another and we had this fabulous idea for a lunch. We've obviously struck a chord with the Toowoomba community because the lunch sold out in just a few weeks.'

The luncheon will also feature the launch of the Felicity Purcell USQ Nursing Scholarship by USQ Chancellor Mrs Bobbie Brazil.

Felicity Purcell was a nursing Student at USQ who sadly lost the fight against Breast Cancer in August 2008.  The scholarship in her honour will be aimed at country students wishing to pursue a career in nursing.

All proceeds from the luncheon and silent auction will go to the Breast Cancer Network Australia which provides support for women undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer and the Felicity Purcell Nursing Scholarship

The Pink Lady Luncheon will take place at the USQ Refectory from 12.00 noon on Friday 24 October. Tickets are $60 per person. Enquiries can be directed to Liz Newberry on +61 7 4631 1415.
