USQ to present 3rd Jean Clarice Searle Award

 

The University of Southern Queensland's (USQ) Faculty of Arts presented the 3rd Jean Clarice Searle Award for visual art research on Wednesday 23 April 2008.

Awarded annually, the $2,000 bursary is presented to a student who is enrolled in postgraduate research degree in visual arts.

It was first awarded in 2006, and this year it was be presented to masters student Danny Ford.

Danny completed a Bachelor of Arts/ Education majoring in visual arts in 2003.

The award aims to assist outstanding students by enhancing their ability to access opportunities that further research. It aims to advance leading edge research centred on creative arts practice.

Award donors Mrs Jean Clarice Searle's son Mr Ross Searle presented the award to Danny. Mrs Searle's niece Mrs Elizabeth Shaw also attended the award ceremony.
