Join the festivities at USQ Springfield Open Day
Visitors to the USQ Springfield Open Day can learn about new programs, hear about uni life and join the festivities on Saturday 23 August 2008.
Around 5,000 people are expected to explore the campus with the Open Day running from 11.00am - 4.00pm.
USQ Springfield Director Doug Fraser said the day is a great opportunity to hear about the latest in course offerings at Springfield.
'People can find out about the range of new programs this year including accounting and sustainable business, law, engineering and our increased range of postgraduate courses,' Mr Fraser said.
'They can also find out more about the work integrated learning opportunities available across all USQ Springfield undergraduate programs.
Program information will be available from the information booths as well as the faculty information sessions including:
'There will also be different displays from current students including an egg competition by the Engineering students,' Mr Fraser said.
'The Phoenix Radio station will be broadcasting live on the day, interviewing staff and students, giving people a greater understanding of the facilities.
'Having current students displaying their work not only means visitors can see what students are doing in classes but they can speak to someone experiencing uni life as well.'
'A session on life as a uni student begins at 11.30am in the auditorium lecture theatre and information on support services for students will be available all day from the information booths.
'Campus tours run every half hour and include a visit to the accommodation facilities.'
A fulfilling lives competition and a colouring-in competition will keep the family entertained throughout the afternoon.
'People coming along to the Open Day will have the opportunity to enter a competition to win one of three Fulfilling Lives packs each valued at $5,559.
'The packs include a Laptop computer, $2,000 worth of travel and accommodation, vouchers and $1,000 cash.
'Some of our current students will also be contributing to the Education City Fiesta which is on the same day in the same area,' Mr Fraser said.
'The Fiesta will include $15 all day rides, food, market stalls and a free performance by Operator Please.
'So between USQ's Open Day, the Fiesta and the Orion Shopping Centre Saturday the 23rd is looking to be a great day out in Springfield for the whole family,' Mr Fraser said.
