Essential information at Springfield Semester Three Orientation

New students commencing study in Semester Three at the University of Southern Queensland's (USQ) Springfield campus should keep Friday 14 November free for Orientation Day.

Commencing in the Learning Centre, the day will provide essential information about studying at university.

Classes have now begun for students studying in Semester Three at the University of Southern Queensland's (USQ) Springfield Campus.

Events and Student Experience Manager Bianca Price said the program would be tailored towards easing new students into university and giving them the chance to meet new people.

'The majority of the Springfield cohort are the first members of their family to attend university. Orientation helps to demystify it a little,' Ms Price said.

'They get to meet their peers, their faculty and students from across the campus not in their faculty who they will bump into from time to time.'

Ms Price said USQ offers three semesters, rather than the standard two.

'This enables students to manage their studies with far greater flexibility and can help them fast track their studies, or spread their studies over a full calendar year.'

Faculty essentials, academic study skills and the Student Guild will all be introduced and explained through the day.

The various sessions will also provide new students with the opportunity to receive their student ID cards and learn about the online facilities available.

Springfield's semester 3 Orientation Day will commence with a welcome at 9.00am in The Learning Centre on level 3.
