Students shop for careers at USQ

Students meeting with prospective employers at last years event

More than 1000 USQ students are expected to shop for their future careers at the annual USQ Career and Employer Fair on March 25.

The USQ Career and Employer Fair is a major career event that allows employers to promote their graduate programs to USQ students.
Manager of USQ Careers and Employment, Tanya Morgan, said the Career Fair provides students with the opportunity to engage with prospective employers.

'Students can talk directly with the staff that perform the selection and recruitment for the organisation, and apply early to secure graduate employment for the following year', she said.

 'This is a golden opportunity for all students (graduating and continuing) to network with employers, research available jobs, collect application information and learn how to improve their chances of gaining entry into a graduate program.'

 Tanya said more than 45 employers are expected to participate in this years event.

'This year, despite the global financial crisis and recent natural disasters, there are organisations attending from across Australia recruiting students from all disciplines for their graduate programs.

'In order to get the most out of the Career Fair and to create a good first impression with employers we have provided a number of helpful tips of things to do before, during and after the Career Fair.'

 A free bus service will also be operating from USQ Springfield and USQ Fraser Coast.

Springfield - Departing Springfield Campus at 9am and arriving back at 3.30pm. To register please contact Career Hub.
Fraser Coast - Departing Fraser Coast Campus at 6am, stops into Maryborough at 6.30am and arriving back at Maryborough at 6pm and Hervey Bay at 6.30pm. To register please contact Career Hub or Kelly Fairminer.
