Two USQ academics have been honoured for their outstanding local, national and international services to education.

Associate Professor Dorothy Andrews and Dr Marian Lewis received awards during the Australian Council for Educational Leaders (ACEL) National Conference in Sydney in September.

Associate Professor Andrews was awarded an ACEL Fellowship for her work in education, including the Catholic secondary sector, her academic career as a lecturer and researcher at pre-service and post- graduate levels, and nationally and internationally as Director of the Leadership Research Group (LRI) at USQ.

Also acknowledged was Associate Professor Andrews’ leadership and management of the internationally renowned IDEAS Project, which has been implemented in seven Australian school systems, as well as internationally, since 2003.

Associate Professor Dorothy Andrews and Dr Marian Lewis received the Presidential Citation for their work as editors of Leading and Managing, a fully blind refereed, digital and print journal published and issued to all ACEL members bi-annually.

ACEL National President Jim Watterston said Associate Prof Andrews and Dr Lewis had steered the publication by always aiming to maintain a balance between the practice and theory of the complementary phases of leading and managing in educational administration.

'They have gathered knowledge and skills from a combined 78 years in the education sphere and are both highly respected for the lead role they have individually taken in education (both in Australia and abroad),' Mr Watterston said.
