The delegates were on a nationwide tour, visiting more than a dozen universities, and were eager to visit USQ because of its strong history in international education.
Representatives from Arizona State University (USA), Ryerson University (Canada), the University of Lethbridge (Canada) and the University of North Texas (USA) met with USQ staff to discuss possible linkages and future partnership opportunities.
USQ’s Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Scholarship), Professor Peter Goodall, said that meetings like this could provide USQ with exciting new opportunities to link with good universities overseas.
‘USQ has a strong history in international education, including partnership arrangements with institutions worldwide and with international students studying directly with USQ, but it has relatively few students on exchange programs or studying abroad,’ Professor Goodall said.
‘The meetings that are being held with representatives from the US and Canadian universities could provide many benefits to USQ.’
Meetings were held with representatives from four faculties and with the international section of the Student Management Division across the half day program.
Findings will be presented to the management of the respective universities and additional meetings may be scheduled with USQ in the future.
The Federal Government department AusTrade assisted the international universities with their Australian visit.
