Community invited to attend USQ art auction
Move over Sotheby’s, the USQ Creative Arts annual auction is shaping up to be another show-stopper.
As part of USQ’S Open Day this Sunday, staff and students from the School of Creative Arts have been tirelessly creating and collecting artworks to auction off.
Money raised from the event will go towards the students’ final year catalogue.
Auction coordinator and ceramics lecturer, Alexis Tacey, said the event is an opportunity to purchase quality work from emerging artists.
'The auction is a really good opportunity for members of the community to invest in artwork by internationally recognised artists, as well as incredibly talented emerging artists,' she said.
'Many of the students who have donated pieces to be auctioned off will one day be well known, and this is an occasion to buy their work as well as meet them on the day.'
The work on display has been donated but all year levels across all mediums.
People interested in purchasing work are welcome to contact the School of Creative Arts, and work will be available for viewing prior to the auction.
