Cameron Howarth returns from a trip to the USA where he attended the SIFE World Cup |
First year Bachelor of Law/Business student Cameron Howarth has every reason to smile following a trip to Anaheim in the U.S.A., thanks to his selection to participate in the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) 2010 World Cup.
Selected by SIFE Australia Northern Regional Convenor and USQ Academic Professor Marie Kavanagh to represent SIFE Australia’s Northern Region, Mr Howarth said attending the three day event had been an extraordinary experience.
'I feel so privileged and honoured to have been chosen to represent USQ and SIFE Australia in America,' Mr Howarth said.
'The many different cultures showcased at the event were amazing.
'I connected with so many new people from other universities around the world and really enjoyed watching the different approaches they took for projects in their communities.
'We shared ideas for future projects and found ways to link projects from USQ to projects at other international universities.
'I was able to experience SIFE from 44 countries and the knowledge I have brought home with me will be very valuable in the creation of future USQ projects.'
Professor Kavanagh said she chose Cameron to attend with another Queensland student from Bond University as he had demonstrated a keen interest in SIFE and had committed a great deal of time to his SIFE projects.
'Cameron is the CEO of SIFE Springfield and his engagement with the team has strengthened existing projects and led to a number of new projects,' Professor Kavanagh said.
'In collaboration with the SIFE Toowoomba team, SIFE USQ has already made its mark in the national arena and there are exciting times ahead in terms of the projects these teams will generate and conduct in their respective communities.
'The World Cup was a wonderful opportunity for Cameron to see how SIFE teams across the world approach their projects building business opportunities in communities where there is a great need in keeping with the SIFE motto ‘a head for business, a heart for the world’.'
