Chancellor inspires students with lunchtime talk
USQ Chancellor Mrs Bobbie Brazil recently spoke to staff and students at the Residential Colleges first 2011 Lunchtime Seminar.
The event forms part of a series of seminars aiming to provide students with information about important University and community issues and promote campus resources and services.
The Chancellor spoke on the importance of Leadership and Getting Involved in the community. She told the stories of well known, and less well known, dissidents and used these stories to highlight the importance of ordinary people making a stand against the abuse of basic human rights.
The Chancellor presented a similar seminar last year to graduating students and due to its popularity and success she was invited to speak to continuing students this year.
She said she was very pleased to be invited back, and told the students that, as educated persons, they would almost certainly find themselves in leadership roles in the future.
More than 50 people attended the lunchtime event which was held on Wednesday 9 March in the Steele Rudd Dining Hall.
The next presentation in the Lunchtime Seminar Series will be from 11:45am to 1:00pm on Wednesday, 23 March 2011, in the Steele Rudd Dining Hall. Mr Peter Rookas, Chief Executive Officer of the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, will speak on Toowoomba Says No To Violence
