The Honourable Robert Shenton French AC
Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia,
the honorable Robert Shenton French AC

Australia’s most senior judge will speak in the Garden City tomorrow (Friday), June 25.

The Chief Justice of the High Court of Australia, the Honorable Robert Shenton French AC will present Courts in a Representative Democracy at the University of Southern Queensland (USQ) as part of the Shine Lawyers/USQ Law free public lecture series.

USQ School of Law, Professor Mike Robertson, described the lecture as an exciting coup for the local law community and encouraged members of the community to attend as well.

“It is not very often that the public gets the chance to hear someone like Chief Justice French speak in person so I encourage those who want to attend to register their interest,” Professor Roberson said.

“We have a strong and committed legal profession in Toowoomba, who I know are just as eager as we at the University to hear the public lecture.

“There has been an enormous amount in interest not only locally but across South East Queensland and the legal community has given us some very positive comments about the visit.”

Registrations are still being taken for the public lecture, with those wishing to attend asked to contact Paula de Keyzer in USQ’s School of Law on 4631 1575 for more information.

The event will be held at 6pm in USQ’s Allison Dickson Theatre.
