Book now to avoid disappointment
The University’s
Corporate Club has recently announced that Horizon WealthInvest will be this year’s sponsor of the Breakfast Series.
Horizon WealthInvest advisor, Tim Blakeley said during the course of the Breakfast Series a range of entertaining and topical speakers would be introduced including Olympic Gold Medallist, Duncan Free and Beaconsfield Mine Survivor, Todd Russell.
The first breakfast in the series will be held on Thursday March 4 at Toowoomba restaurant Encores, with guest speaker Todd Russell.
Todd Russell is one of two men who survived the 2006 Beaconsfield Mine collapse.
For two weeks Australia watched as local gold miners Brant Webb and Todd Russell huddled together in a tiny bubble of air without food or water.
For nine days rescue teams worked tirelessly to free the men, aware that with the slightest mistake the roof could collapse.
On May 9 rescue workers finally reached the two men and brought them safely to the surface where they walked unassisted back into the outside world, arms held high in triumph.
Tickets to hear Todd Russell’s amazing story are available through Cheryl Abberton and cost $40. The event is open to the public.
The USQ Corporate Club Breakfast Series is part of the regular program of networking and information events for USQ Corporate Club members and guests. Proceeds from the breakfast series goes towards the Chancellor’s Award. The Award recognises the top academic achiever in the USQ Residential Colleges.
