The University of Southern Queensland (USQ) is now an accredited Tuition Provider for CPA Australia’s Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) Program.
The CPA Program consists of six professional-level courses that allow accounting graduates to become a Certified Practising Accountant.
There are four core segments and two elective segments and USQ will provide online global support for the four core segments.
USQ Head of the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance Professor Peter Best said the program was a corporate education initiative from the Faculty of Business and Law.
‘It has great potential for USQ and the Faculty,’ Professor Best said.
‘There are approximately 60,000 enrolments in CPA Program segments a year.
‘The CPA Program is delivered by CPA Australia via distance education and students sit for exams in over 150 locations around the world.’
The support provided for each of the four non-award USQ courses consists of a dedicated website (the StudyDesk), supplementary study materials from CPA Australia, a study schedule, a virtual study group with online discussion forums, timely response to queries, lecture recordings on difficult areas, additional exercises and quizzes, and a practice exam.
‘We expect the provision of online support will be particularly attractive to candidates unable to attend face-to-face seminars, including those living remotely and offshore,’ Professor Best said.
‘USQ is well-positioned to capture this significant online market.’
