South African student Annerine Wenhold has been awarded a USQ Partner Prize |
A South African student with a passion for elite sports and community work has been recognised by USQ for her outstanding academic success.
Mother-of-three Annerine Wenhold, who is studying a Masters of Business Administration (MBAD) through USQ’s partner institution, the South African Australian Education Centre, was awarded an International Partner Prize recently in recognition of her high cumulative grade point average and community-based achievements.
The 37-year-old works as a business optimisation specialist at Sasol Technology Pty and excels in sport. An avid cyclist, Annerine held the position of Director of Track Cycling in Cycling South Africa last year and has represented her country in several international competitions.
In 2010 she won five gold medals in the South African Track Championships, gold in the South African Omnium Track Championships, and gold in the South African Road Championships. She currently holds seven track cycling records in her country.
Annerine is also very community-minded and holds weekly general knowledge classes for preschoolers and primary learners, regional track cycling clinics to introduce new riders to the sport, and mentors one of South Africa’s top track cyclists.
USQ Partner Performance Coordinator, Kirsty Jeffrey, said this second round of $500 scholarships for high performing students had received an overwhelming response from USQ’s international partners.
'The calibre of the nominated students was once again outstanding,' Ms Jeffrey said.
'The winners were nominated by a USQ partner institution and are all studying a USQ program, they have completed at least six courses of study and have achieved a high cumulative grade point average. The extra-curricular activities, community service and situations of overcoming adversity is what makes these winners stand out.'
