Daniel Macpherson has gained success in the tough world of triathlon |
Daniel competes in several high level triathlons each year and is a constant threat in the amateur categories.
‘I have competed in a number of world class events like the 2009 World Championships at the Gold Coast and a number of Australian Championships’ Daniel said.
‘I have achieved some good results this season winning my age group at the Australian Long Course Championships and Gold Coast Half Ironman, as well as placing second at the Australian Olympic Distance Championships.’
As a result of consistent and strong performances Daniel has been able to obtain and maintain sponsorship with Skins Compression Sportswear and swimming company Eyeline.
‘It is a tough and sometimes expensive sport to pursue and the support I get from Eyeline and Skins is excellent, it’s great to get recognition from two of the top companies in the sport.’
To maintain his competitiveness, Daniel trains 20 hours a week and he fits this all in with his full time job with USQ.
‘It is good to have a hobby like triathlon and a professional career, especially here at USQ.’
Daniel prepares and maintains departmental budgets and related financial management reports for a number of areas across USQ including the Faculty of Engineering and Surveying; Open Access College; and the Sustainable Business Management and Improvement office.
Daniel joined USQ after working in private practice and enjoys the variety and new challenges he faces in his role.
While Daniel is relatively new at USQ, he looks forward to a long future here – and in triathlon.
