Associate Professor Armando Apan gives a presentation at the ninth DIGGARS Forum |
The one day forum attracted surveyors, engineers and scientists from Toowoomba, the Downs region and Brisbane who enjoyed sessions on best practice and emerging trends in the industry.
Associate Professor Armando Apan, Associate Professor (Geographic Systems) and Acting Head of Discipline (Surveying and Spatial Sciences) said that this was an important event for the University and the region.
‘USQ is a leader in this field in the teaching area and we actually have a number of former students presenting here today,’ Associate Professor Apan said.
‘Forums like this are important as the industry develops in the region – particularly in the Surat Basin in which USQ is deeply involved.’
Associate Professor Apan gave a presentation for the forum with the broad themes of sustainability, biodiversity and data capture and these themes were reflected in various specialties throughout the forum.
The DIGGARS Forum was supported by USQ along with the Queensland Government Department of Environment and Resource Management, Toowoomba Regional Council, and GHD.
2010 was the ninth time the forum has taken place and the University is committed to continuing this important regional group.
