AFI award nominated actor, Luke Carroll
will be a presenter at USQ’s
'Dhuuluu Yala Two Daya’ program

Organised specifically around the needs of Indigenous students by USQ Marketing and the Centre for Australian Indigenous Knowledges the ‘Dhuuluu Yala Two Daya’ which translated from the Wiradjuri language means ‘straight talk for two days’ will bring students together with Aboriginal Elders and motivational speakers to discuss all aspects of university life.

Mr Carl Rallings, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Student Management) said the activities being held at USQ’s Toowoomba and Springfield campuses will introduce the students to workshops in creative arts, law, business, sciences, health, engineering and surveying along with communications, anthropology and Indigenous studies.

He said that students from as far away as Cunnamulla will hear inspirational stories from highly successful Indigenous people including Luke Carroll a two time Australian Film Industry (AFI) award nominated actor who has starred in a number of locally produced productions.

'By introducing students from all age levels to the University we hope to encourage them to stay on at school and consider higher education as a real option for themselves, ' Mr Rallings said.

The two days won’t be all about study. The high school students will mingle with current USQ students, participate in a range of fun packed activities and spend time learning about health care issues at the mini health expo (hosted by Blue Care and Carbal Medical Centre) in Toowoomba.
