About 60 academics from universities across Queensland will gather at The Empire Theatre in Toowoomba on Friday, July 15 for an engineering symposium.
USQ Engineering and Surveying Senior Lecturer Lyn Brodie said the event, organised by the USQ Engineering Education Research Group, gave academics interested in engineering education research the opportunity to gather together specifically to discuss future research opportunities.
'This is a great opportunity to develop a network of researchers across Queensland to collaborate on current and future issues in engineering education,' Ms Brodie said.
'The roles engineers undertake, the career opportunities and impact of technology on engineering all have a huge impact on the way we educate engineers.
'The way we approach our teaching is of vital importance to make sure we are giving our students the best opportunities to learn and to be successful in their chosen career.
'Research in educational issues and student learning plays a key role teaching.'
Representatives from the University of Southern Queensland, University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, Central Queensland University and the University of Sunshine Coast will attend.
