USQ's cyclists, like the Vice-Chancellor (pictured) will have new facilities for their ride to work |
The End of Trip Cycling Facilitates are centrally located at the eastern end of Y Block and southern end of D Block and offer secure storage facilities and change room facilities for up to 88 cyclists.
Mr Dave Povey, Group Manager of Facilities at USQ said that these facilities will offer USQ staff and students a greener, healthier commute to work.
'We developed these cycling facilities in conjunction with the Toowoomba Regional Council’s Cycle and Pedestrian Strategy and offers USQ staff and students secure facilities to store their bikes,' Mr Povey said.
'Cyclists will also have access to showers and change room facilities which has been an issue for people cycling to work in the past.'
'The facilities will be accessible via a swipe card access system issued by USQ Security so protection of belongings would not be a concern.'
The facilities have been built to environmental best practice utilising solar hot water, photovoltaic power and rainwater harvesting.
