Shaping up to study and stay fit

USQ Fraser Coast has installed
a new fitness area

USQ Fraser Coast is following the old adage that a healthy body leads to a healthy mind.

The campus has installed an entire fitness arena to help students, staff and members of the community get into shape and keep fit.

There are 19 pieces of equipment providing 27 stations. The area has a soft fall surface and is covered by shade sails.

It is located between the campus’s A and B blocks. It is available for use 24 hours a day and has camera surveillance for security and safety.

About 200 people tested the equipment during its official launch at the USQ and Student Guild Fun and Fitness Day on July 20.

Personal fitness trainers were on hand to assist with instruction for use of the new equipment along with representatives from Allied Health to provide fitness and health information.

Education student and USQ elite athlete Brendan Thomas was one of the first to try out the new equipment.

Brendan gave it the thumbs up.

He said it was a great asset for the community and that he would be using it whenever possible.
