Fraser Coast Alumni chair retires after 12 years

USQ Fraser Coast Provost Professor
Ken Stott farewells Alumni and Friends
Chapter Chair Frank Smith

The chairman of the USQ Fraser Coast Alumni and Friends Chapter, Frank Smith, has retired after more than 12 years at the helm.

Mr Smith, from Bundaberg, was the inaugural chair of the chapter after its establishment in 1998. He was farewelled at an Alumni cocktail function at the Fraser Coast campus on November 22.

USQ Fraser Coast Provost Professor Ken Stott presented Mr Smith with a plaque to commemorate his outstanding contribution as chair of the chapter.

Also acknowledged for their service to the chapter were USQ graduates Katrina Corcoran and Kevin Corcoran, and USQ events co-ordinator Stephanie Bayley.

Under Mr Smith’s leadership the chapter was instrumental in holding a dialogue cafe to discuss the region’s future growth. It also held functions to recruit mentors for students and promoted itself at USQ open days.

The chapter is currently forming a new executive committee which aims to keep USQ graduates who reside in the Fraser Coast region in contact with the University, and with each other, after they have completed their studies.
