 Johanna Makin |
A Hervey Bay lecturer has topped the State in a course for practising accountants.
Johanna Makin, who teaches Commerce at USQ Fraser Coast, won the CPA Australia Divisional Award for the segment on Assurance Services and Auditing.
The course is part of the six-segment CPA program which is completed by many practising accountants.
The award acknowledges Johanna’s outstanding results.
'I was really pleased to win the award,' she said.
'I am the CPA Australia campus liaison officer for USQ Fraser Coast. It’s my job to promote the professional body to our commerce students.
After university, the next step in their careers is to become CPA or ICAA members and complete the further studies (comprising the six courses and three years of professional experience).'
Johanna did her own university studies at the Fraser Coast campus. She graduated in 2000 and worked in public practice for five years at a local firm. While still working as a professional accountant she started lecturing, and now is a full-time lecturer in the Faculty of Business.
