Film screening for National Psychology Week

To commemorate National Psychology Week 2011, USQ Fraser Coast psychology staff and students will be holding a screening of the documentary The Brain That Changes Itself.

The Brain That Changes Itself is based on the best-selling book by Toronto psychiatrist and researcher Norman Doidge who studied the human brain and the concept of neuroplasticity.

The film covers a number of fascinating cases such as a blind man who can ‘see’ with his tongue, a woman who was born with half of her brain and a man who was able to recover movement in the left side of his body after a stroke.

The film will be screened at the A139 Lecture Theatre on Friday, November 18 from 6.30pm.

The film is rated M and not suitable for children, although adult attendees are invited to bring along a guest.

Light refreshments will be provided.

For catering purposes, RSVP to Michelle Adamson by calling 4194 3165 or emailing michelle.adamson@usq.edu.au.

National Psychology Week 2011 will run from November 13 to 19.
