Staff recognised for excellence in global learning

Staff members from the Global Learning and Student Management Divisions were recognised for their outstanding efforts in the inaugural

 Commendation for Achievement in Enhancing Learning – one awarded to the MDO team

Achievement in Enhancing Learning

Global Learning and Student Management Excellence Awards in November.

The awards were established to recognise those who have significantly improved the student learning journey and the student experience through new programs and services.

Professor Phil Candy, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Learning) was encouraged by the level of projects nominated for the awards.

‘The Panel was impressed by the high quality of the applications and the considerable effort put into the application process,’ Professor Candy said.

‘It is important to recognise staff performance in this way and these awards will drive future innovation, further improving the student learning journey and student experience for USQ’s students.’

The winners of the Excellence Award received a grant of $2,000 for their team, and the winners of the Excellence Commendations received certificates recognising their efforts.

Programs and Services that Enhance Learning

  • CMA Support Team (Beverley Radke, Sheree White, David Grant)
  • The Computer Managed Assessment (CMA) Team manage and administer the CMA system and publish assessments for print and online modes. The Selection Panel were impressed by the Team’s clarity of purpose and in particular their commitment to continuous improvement

Commendation for Achievement in Enhancing Learning

  • Electronic Publishing Services Team (Anne Baker, Jackie Brassington, Frances Grundy, Christy Van Heerden, Toni Stevens, Faye McAdam, Pamela Glossop, Pauline Hickey, Janice Kann, Ursula Watson, Beverley Radke, Sheree White, Karen Yarrow, Tess Brady, Jenny Hurd, Deborah Thomas, Julie Spearritt, Chris Dowell)
  • The Electronic Publishing Services (EPS) Team facilitates the flexible delivery of courseware to students worldwide. For Semester 2, 2010, EPS processed 806 print items, 301 courses on CD/DVD and 398 online courses. The Selection Panel was impressed by the Team’s high standards and commitment to quality assurance, and sustained impact over a considerable period of time.

Commendation for Achievement in Enhancing Learning

  • Materials Development Officers Team (Dawn Humphrey, Christine Bassett, Narelle Girle, Deb Liriges, Neralie Macdonald, Alison Mylne, Jeanette Rose, Debra Vallely)
  • The Materials Development Officers focus on providing support to academic staff in developing course materials, and on the provision of quality course materials to all USQ students, specifically those studying one or more of their courses off-campus. The Selection Panel was impressed by the Team’s distinctive and coherent approaches to coordination and implementation of its services.
