Emerging artsits vie for prizes
The Student Guild Exhibition showcases students artwork
|
USQ's Arts Gallery will play host to the ‘Visual Arts
Student Guild Exhibition’ from 20-26 March.
The annual exhibition and associated competition affords USQ Visual Arts students an opportunity to not only show-off their current works, but also vie for several significant prizes.
Curator of the exhibition and Co-ordinator of
Visual Arts at USQ,
Dr Kyle Jenkins said 'opportunities such as these are an important part of the students’ learning process.
'It is a great chance for them to exhibit their work within a professional context and setting, and at the same time, show their individual work off to a wider audience.'
The Guild Exhibition has been running for many years and has historically demonstrated the high quality of studio work produced in the USQ Printmaking, Ceramics, Painting, Drawing, and Spatial Construction studios.
Students from across all levels from first year right through to Honours are invited to submit one work using their choice of medium which both showcases their abilities and has public appeal.
The competition will be judged by a panel of two; USQ Student Guild General Manager, Kevin Stapleton and USQ Lecturer in Printmaking, Stephen Spurrier, awarding prizes for Overall Winner, Runner-Up and People’s Choice.
'The Student Guild has always been incredibly supportive of the Arts at USQ, and their ongoing generosity is highly valued.'
The exhibition will run from 20-26 March in the USQ Arts Gallery, open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday.
Admission to the gallery is free of charge.
