USQ hosts Harmony Day

In a bid to celebrate our cultural diversity, USQ will again host Harmony Day celebrations.

Organised by USQ’s Multicultural Centre, the annual event is a Commonwealth Government initiative and provides the community with the opportunity to think about our success as a multicultural society.

Manager of the Multicultural Centre Mr William Conwell said this year’s celebrations would again be a vibrant sea of colour and activity.

'Activities to celebrate Harmony Day this year include international food stalls, music, cultural dances and a fashion show highlighting traditional garments from various countries,' Mr Conwell said.

'A number of other exciting activities will also take place on the day and we expect involvement of community and Government representatives.'

Celebrations will take place on Wednesday, 23 March 2011 from 12:00 noon until 2:00pm on at USQ Toowoomba in the Quadrangle during the common hour

'Everyone is encouraged to attend this important and popular event. We can all be proud of our multiculturalism and internationalisation at USQ. The day is about community participation, inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.'
