National and Queensland employers and students took part in an Industry Networking Function at the USQ
Springfield campus today (17 March).
The networking function gave employers an ideal platform to profile their organisations and career opportunities and taught students the important skills of networking, communication and professionalism.
More than 20 organisations including Defence Force Recruiting, CPA Australia, Engineers Australia, Corrective Services and Hays Education attended the event, mixing with 100 student attendees.
International Sales Manager for Synarbor Education Carolyn Alchin said she hoped to meet many USQ Education students through the networking function and talk to them about overseas work opportunities.
'Synarbor Education place between 300 to 400 teachers in international schools worldwide, including England and New Zealand each year,' she said.
'Eighty percent of the teachers we place are newly qualified and they work overseas on either a long term or short term basis.
'Teaching overseas as a new graduate is ideal as you don’t have too many things in your way to hold you back.
'We provide the students with support to obtain visas, setting up bank accounts, understanding international curriculum and basically help them get set up overseas.
'We have been doing this for more than ten years and as a former teacher myself, I know how valuable that additional international experience can be to graduates looking for work in Australia.'
In addition to meeting industry professionals, students attended presentations by organisations to find out more about their recruitment processes and employment opportunities.
