Springfield hosts information evening

Springfield Information Night
Wednesday 5 October

Anyone considering semester three, 2011 or 2012 enrolment at university is invited to attend an information night at USQ Springfield campus on Wednesday 5 October.

The Information Evening, to be held in the auditorium from 5.30pm, will provide future students with the information they need to begin their studies.

USQ Springfield campus director Mr Doug Fraser said semester three entry to university was becoming increasingly popular as prospective students required more flexibility in their studies.

'Semester three entry is very attractive to school students who take some time off to work or relax when they finish school, or for older students who were simply unable to start their programs earlier,' Mr Fraser said.

'It is also relevant for mature-aged students who may wish to finish a qualification they had already started or to dip their toes into university studies for the first time. Although the academic year officially began in February, we also have mid-year and semester three entry options. It definitely isn’t too late to enrol at USQ and begin your studies.'

Mr Fraser said the Information Evening would give prospective students an opportunity to talk with academic and admissions staff about their options for beginning studies in semester three, as well as courses and programs available for entry in 2012.

'They can also discuss the entry requirements, how to apply, how to improve their tertiary eligibility, student support services, the USQ Tertiary Preparation Program (TPP) and credit for previous TAFE studies for students who may not have the relevant qualifications already. Staff will also be available to discuss pathways to postgraduate study for those without any formal qualifications but who have appropriate industry experience' he said.

'I would encourage anyone interested in studying to come along to the Information Evening and find out more about the campus, programs and university life.'

Anyone wishing to enrol at USQ is invited to apply via Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC).

Mr Fraser said a Career Opportunities Showcase for current students would take place the same day from 12pm to 2pm in the Auditorium.

'We will have industries from around the region and further afield on campus to speak with students about graduate opportunities, vocation opportunities, graduate pathways and work integrated learning.'
