Learning and Teaching week proves popular with academics
 Professor Philip Candy |
Academic and Professional staff from across USQ’s three campuses have affirmed their commitment to enhancing their own professional development and the student experience following another successful Learning and Teaching week at the University.
Held annually, the week-long event showcases exciting developments in teaching and learning practice and celebrates staff excellence.
This year, as well as the Academic Staff Induction forums, sessions provided opportunity for staff to gain insight into advances in tertiary education.
Global Learning Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Philip Candy also introduced a number of enlightening concepts in the field of Digital Futures and celebrated the awards of citation winners from the Learning and Teaching Academy.
Throughout the week, sessions have been received exceptionally well according to USQ Learning and Teaching Pro Vice-Chancellor
Professor Lynne Hunt.
'Firstly I want to thank everyone for their involvement in, commitment to and attendance at Learning and Teaching week,' Professor Hunt said.
'Each of the sessions that we held was attended by a good number of staff, not only in Toowoomba but also at our other campuses in
Springfield and the
Fraser Coast.
'This was a great way to start the year and assist individuals to plan their professional development goals in scholarship, learning and research.
'The gala event had about 60 attendees, all of whom were there to celebrate the success of recipients of awards and recognise the value in networking with the ALTC,' said Professor Hunt.
Professor Candy also acknowledged the value in the Professorial Breakfast on Wednesday morning.
'I would like to thank the attendees very much for contributing so wholeheartedly, and so appropriately, to the Professorial Breakfast,' he said.
'I think it was an excellent event, and I couldn’t have been happier – or more impressed – at how the three presentations dovetailed together.'
Meanwhile LTSU Acting Director
Dr Michael Sankey also applauded the visiting scholars:
'Jacqui Elson-Green from the ALTC and Robyn Smyth from the University Of New England (UNE) gave dynamic presentations that were very valuable to our academic and professional staff and I thank them for travelling to USQ to speak with our staff.'
With many other events planned during the year, it will be an exciting next 12 months for learning and teaching at USQ.
