Information evening for mid-year enrolment

The mid-year entry to university is
becoming increasingly popular

An information night for those considering mid-year university enrolment at USQ took place in Toowoomba on in early June.

The Mid-Year Options Evening, held at the Empire Theatre, provided future students with the information they need to begin their studies in Semester 2.

USQ Pro-Vice Chancellor of Student Management, Mr Carl Rallings, said the mid-year entry to university was becoming increasingly popular as future students required more flexibility in their studies.

'Mid-year entry is very attractive to school students who take some time off to work, travel or relax when they finish school, or for students who were simply unable to start their programs earlier,' Mr Rallings said.

'It is also relevant for mature-aged students who may wish to finish a qualification they had already started or to embrace university studies for the first time.

'Although the academic year officially began in February, we have a mid-year entry option and also a Semester 3 entry. It definitely isn't too late to study in 2011.'

Mr Rallings said the Mid-Year Options Evening gave future students an opportunity to talk with academic and admissions staff about their options for beginning studies in Semester 2, 2011, as well as courses and programs available for mid-year entry.

'They can discuss the entry requirements, how to apply, how to improve their tertiary eligibility, student support services and the USQ Tertiary Preparation Program (TPP) for students who may not have the relevant qualifications already,' he said.

'The Mid-Year Options Evening is a great way to find out more about the campus, programs and university life.'
