USQ Springfield awards mid-year scholarships

USQ has announced the recipients of three scholarships at the 2011 Springfield Scholarships Mid Year Awards recently at the
Springfield campus.
Director of USQ Springfield Doug Fraser said the scholarships and bursaries, with a maximum total value of more than $26,000 would encourage the students to continue attaining outstanding results.
'The scholarship recipients were of a very high calibre and I congratulate each student on their decision to study with USQ,' Mr Fraser said.
'The University greatly values the support of local business and the Ipswich City Council and this scholarship presentation is a way of acknowledging their support.'
Mr Fraser said the scholarships awarded would be a head start for the Springfield students who were selected.
'In many cases they will be the difference between the students starting their careers with a significant education debt, or being financially unencumbered.'

Jennifer Malcolm –
City of Ipswich Scholarship ($15,000 value) In 2012, USQ will offer one City of Ipswich Scholarship to an undergraduate student continuing full-time on campus study at USQ Springfield Campus. The Ipswich City Council has made this Scholarship available to encourage educational development in skill shortage areas in the Ipswich region. The scholarship is awarded to a meritorious student in the Ipswich region.
• Diana Davie – Bremer Institute of TAFE Scholarship 2011 ($3,000 value)
Diana Davies is a first year Bachelor of General Studies student.USQ Springfield offers three USQ Springfield–The Bremer Institute of TAFE Bursaries to undergraduate students commencing full-time or part-time on-campus study at USQ Springfield Campus.
• Louise Lebhers – Bremer Institute of TAFE Scholarship 2011($3,000 value)
Louise Lebhers is a first year Bachelor of Psychology student. USQ Springfield offers three USQ Springfield–The Bremer Institute of TAFE Bursaries to undergraduate students commencing full-time or part-time on-campus study at USQ Springfield Campus.
Mr Fraser concluded the ceremony by thanking the many people and organisations for their contributions and generous support of the University and its student body, including Ipswich City Council and McNamara and Associates, as well as all donors of Springfield Scholarships and Bursaries.
