The inaugural US Ride Run Walk will be held on the Fraser Coast |
If the Commonwealth Games has inspired you to become more active, then take part in the first USQ Ride Run Walk to be held on the Fraser Coast.
The family-orientated event will be held on the morning of Sunday November 14.
Participants can choose either a 5km bike ride, a 5km run or a 3km walk around a street course in Pialba, starting from USQ’s Fraser Coast campus.
It is being organised by the USQ Student Guide but is open to everyone in the community.
USQ Student Guild officer Kelly Ralston said the first USQ Ride Run Walk was held in Toowoomba four years ago to celebrate USQ’s 40th anniversary. It was so popular that it became an annual event.
There is a $10 entry fee for individuals or a $30 group fee for up to four people. The money raised will go to the Hervey Bay Hospital Children’s Ward.
'It’s all about having a bit of fun while supporting a good cause,' Kelly said.
'There is no ongoing fundraising for the children’s ward, and with the region growing so rapidly we need to support this facility. There will be kids on tricycles and mums and dads pushing prams as well as people running, walking and riding all sorts of bikes.'
The USQ Student Guild will provide a free healthy breakfast to all participants, and there will also be raffles and giveaways.
All entrants will receive a ticket for a random draw. Prizes include a three-month membership to Changes Lifestyle Gym, a one-month membership to Breathe Health Club, vouchers from Woolworths and Coles and lots of other gifts.
Registration is open from 7am on the day, with the event starting at 8am to avoid the heat of the day.
People who register prior to the event will go into a draw to win a night’s accommodation for two at the Ramada Resort Hervey Bay.
Registration forms are available at www.studentguild.com.au by clicking on Fraser Coast in the blue box, then Events Calendar. Further information is available from the USQ Student Guild on 41943144.
