Public Lecture to delve into Shakespeare’s influence on modern life

Professor Yachnin will deliver a public lecture on Shakespeare 

The inaugural Dean of Arts Public Lecture will be held on 06 October with Professor Paul Yachnin presenting A World Coming Out: Shakespeare and the Public Life of Literature.

Professor Yachnin is visiting USQ from the McGill University in Montreal Canada, where he is a Tomlinson Professor Shakespeare Studies.

He has published many books on Shakespeare, is a Past President of the Shakespeare Association of America and was a driving figure in creating the Shakespeare Moot Court at McGill University.

Professor Yachnin will discuss how Shakespeare has shaped our world and how they continue to create new forms of language and identity.

He will describe how plays like Hamlet, King Lear and The Tempest impacted the Renaissance and how they have been interpreted in following centuries.

A World Coming Out: Shakespeare and the Public Life of Literature will be held at the Empire Church Theatre on Thursday 6 October.
