Local women and men are encouraged to take part in the International Women’s Conference on Education, Employment and Everything…the triple layers of a woman’s life to be held in Toowoomba in September.

More than 200 people from across the world will discuss how work choices, industrial reforms, education and other issues are affecting women during the four-day conference from 26-29 September 2007.

The conference is a keystone event of the University of Southern Queensland’s 40th Anniversary celebrations.

Ten keynote speakers will address delegates including Deputy Program Manager of the Humanitarian Assistance for the Women of Afghanistan (HAWA), Zainab Wahidi and the first female Labor Cabinet Minister in Australia, Susan Ryan AO.

Conference Project Champion Pauline Collins said this was a fantastic opportunity for local people to take part in an international event held on their doorstep.

'We are encouraging local people to put forward their views on issues affecting women in their everyday life.'

Ms Collins said people could submit abstracts of posters, workshops or papers to be considered for discussion at the conference.

'There are some incredible women in this area who are achieving great things while balancing all of the demands in their life,' she said.

'We want to hear from these women about their experiences and provide them with networking opportunities, information, collaboration and sharing of resources both locally, nationally and internationally.

'This is a great opportunity also for people from community and women’s organisations to raise the profile of their issues.'

Abstracts for papers to be presented at the conference can be submitted until Monday 28 May 2007. Women and men are encouraged to submit abstracts on topics for discussion at the conference.
