Politics was put aside as representatives of federal and state levels of government unveiled a plaque to mark the official opening of USQ Fraser Coast C Block.
The unveiling was carried out by Federal Member for Hinkler and National Party member Paul Neville and State Member for Hervey Bay and Minister for Sustainability, Climate Change and Innovation Andrew McNamara.
The official opening was conducted in the building's executive suite before an audience of dignitaries, business people, USQ staff and scholarship recipients and their families.
It followed the opening of the academic year in the adjoining B Block lecture theatre.
Vice Chancellor Professor Bill Lovegrove led the procession of academics to the opening and award ceremony.
Nineteen recipients were presented with scholarships valued at more than $40,000.
Prof Lovegrove also presented a special 10-years service award to Faculty of Sciences employee Leah Jackat.
