A remote training facility has been installed at USQ Fraser Coast to enable the full ICT training schedule to be delivered to staff at the campus.

The facility was set up in the former conference room in A block.

It is virtually an extension of the Omega and Alpha labs in Toowoomba.

The room contains a traditional video conferencing outfit to enable trainers to present from the Toowoomba labs.

There is also an overhead projector and screen which displays the lecturer's desktop. The system uses Bridgit software which projects the Smartboard from the Toowoomba labs onto a screen at Fraser coast.

The three desktop computers, each with webcams, can be controlled by the trainer in Toowoomba using SynchronEyes software.

This software enables the trainer to view individual screens at Fraser Coast plus to have a ‘private chat' with each participant.

The equipment was installed late last year. The connecting software was installed and tested and the ICT training team has been working on its remote training methodology.

Principal Manager Service Delivery Maggie Fryer visited Fraser Coast last month to participate in several pilots as a final test before releasing it to general use.

'I am extremely pleased to announce that ICT training will be offering sessions via the Fraser Coast training room, commencing this week,' she said.
