Three Australian contenders were 2009 IMS Global Learning Impact Award Recipients in Barcelona, Spain on 14 May.
Success on the world stage for the second year in a row was very much welcomed by the winners who started their journey at IDEA 08, in Melbourne where they qualified through the IMS GLC Australian Regional Learning Impact Awards (LIAs) competition.
Jointly sponsored by the Australian government – Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) and the USQ, the IDEA standards and interoperability series of events is facilitated by the Link Affiliates team.
All three Australian contenders won prizes as follows:
-
LAMS and the LAMS Community - Macquarie University & LAMS Foundation was the winner of a Gold Award
-
Scootle - The Learning Federation won a Bronze Award
-
QTImPlayer-Tasmanian Polytechnic was voted the best Mobile System
Professor Alan Smith, Executive Director of DAIS at USQ, was on the panel of judges that had the difficult task of selecting three winners from the 11 quality Australian finalists at IDEA 08. Professor Smith was photographed with James Dalziel of LAMS when they won first place at IDEA 08:
Professor Smith is not surprised that they have gone on to win the Gold award on the international stage and remarked that ‘this reiterates the innovative work being carried out in the Australian education environment'.
Congratulations to the Australian 2009 IMS Global Learning Impact Award Recipients.
