23 children took part in the We Want to Sing workshop

A vacation choir gave a group of Hervey Bay children the chance to release the inner idol in themselves.
Twenty-three primary school children took part in the We Want to Sing workshops and concert at USQ Fraser Coast.
We Want to Sing is run by the Fraser Coast campus as a holiday activity for children in grades four to seven at school.
Under the direction of Star of the Sea music teacher Gunilla Myren, the children were taught to sing a number of songs which were performed at a concert on Friday night (April 17) in the USQ Fraser Coast B block lecture theatre.
Songs included some ABBA, Beatles, rock and roll and other favourites. Having ABBA in the list was a must for Swedish-born Ms Myren.
The children moved around the stage and presented the songs with elements of comedy and entertainment.
Children who took part in the workshops were from Star of the Sea, Kawungan State School, Yarrilee State School, Sandy Straits State School, Fraser Coast Anglican College and Hervey Bay Christian Academy.
The first We Want to Sing was held last year with 16 children taking part. They performed to a packed house at the concert, and later sang at the 2008 USQ Fraser Coast graduation ceremony.
The current group will perform at the 2009 USQ Fraser Coast graduation ceremony on May 16 at the Brolga Theatre. The audience for that event will be close to 1000 people.
