USQ Provost Prof Ken Stott and Jenny Gunn congratulate competition winners Erin Povarchook and Colin Treloar |
Colin Treloar was still using an old tape-playing Walkman to listen to music until recently.
But the USQ Fraser Coast student has moved into the digital age after winning an iPod in a campus-based competition. Mr Treloar won the major prize in the National Career Development week competition.
Three other students, Erin Povarchook, Thomas Sugget and Sonny Gage, won book vouchers from the USQ Bookshop.
To enter the competition, students who attended the career development day at the campus were required to answer questions about the displays from organisations which use volunteers. The aim was to focus on the skills students could build through being volunteers.
USQ Fraser Coast Provost Prof Ken Stott presented Mr Treloar with his prize.
'I’ve never had an iPod before,' Mr Treloar said. 'I’ve been using a Walkman at home which uses tapes.'
Mr Treloar this semester is completing the Tertiary Preparation Program with the aim of studying Information Technology. He has several certificates in IT and multimedia from the Wide Bay Institute of TAFE.
