Getting Started at the Library

Registering to borrow

For on-campus students, your student card acts as your Library card.  Once you have received your card, take it to the Library Loans Desk in your campus Library to register for borrowing.

Off-campus students do not need to register for borrowing, unless they are borrowing in person from one of the campus Libraries.  If you do not have a student card, other photo ID will suffice.

Services for off-campus students

The Library provides a loan and photocopy service for off-campus students, as well as research advice and thousands of full-text online resources that you can access from wherever you are, whenever you wish to.

Finding Information

The Finding Information Tutorial is an online tutorial which will help you learn the skills and tools to find and manage information effectively.  You can work through the whole tutorial or just use the parts you need. You can practice your skills in the interactive exercises and watch demonstrations that step you through all the search strategies.

Library tours and classes

Library tours provide you with information regarding the services, resources and facilities provided by the Library.  During Orientation week scheduled Library tours are conducted at the Toowoomba Library.  At other times, the Library will provide tours on demand.

Library classes  are conducted at the beginning of Semesters 1 and 2.  Attending one or two classes will give you the skills you need to effectively search for books, journal articles and other information for your assignments.  To book, contact the Information Desk at your campus Library.
