About the service
The Queensland College of Wine Tourism commenced the grape and wine analytical service in 2008 as a collaborative initiative between the College and the University of Southern Queensland (Faculty of Sciences) with the aim of providing a service to the wine industry.
In May 2009, the college entered into a commercial arrangement with Vintessential Laboratories Pty Ltd to operate the analytical service from the QCWT laboratories. See press release below.
Vintessential Laboratories to take over QCWT Grape & Wine Analysis service
The Queensland College of Wine Tourism CEO John Neville announced today that the College has entered into an arrangement with Vintessential Laboratories whereby, from 25 May 2009, the existing wine analysis service will be conducted from the QCWT laboratories by Vintessential Laboratories. "Vintessential Laboratories (VL) will retain the current staff and continue to offer the same service as provided by QCWT. Once fully established, VL will offer an expanded range of services as well as a retail operation for products and equipment" Mr Neville said.
Vintessential Laboratories Managing Director Greg Howell said "this is an exciting time to be involved with such a great centre as QCWT and the vibrant wine industry in Queensland. We can now work more closely with our clients in Queensland and Northern NSW. This laboratory adds to our existing ones in Victoria and Western Australia and gives us the ability to offer our full range of products and services to our clients from one end of Australia to the other."
Mr Neville said the collaboration with Vintessential Laboratories is consistent with the vision and objectives of the College to establish partnerships with the government and the private sector to the benefit of the wine tourism industry in Queensland. "VL has committed to a long-term relationship with the college and as well as providing a wider range of services, will also work with the college to deliver affordable training programs in wine analysis and wine chemistry for industry members" he said.
