The University of Southern Queensland is a key partner of the Queensland College of Wine Tourism.
History
In 2006, USQ commenced delivery of the Bachelor of Wine Science in collaboration with Charles Sturt University. At the commencement of 2008 there were 30 students enrolled in this program.
Bachelor of Technology (Wine)
The Bachelor of Wine Science will be replaced from Semester 1 2009 with the Bachelor of Technology (Wine) which will be wholly delivered by USQ. Key features are:

intensive, focused practical experience, delivered via residential schools at the Queensland College of Wine Tourism

available for study by international applicants and Australian and New Zealand applicants.
Bachelor of Business Wine Business Management
From Semester 1 2009, students undertaking the USQ Bachelor of Business can undertake a 4-unit minor study in Wine Business Management. Wine Business Management draws from management, marketing and wine science disciplines to develop an integrated knowledge of the dynamics of the wine industry. The Wine Business Management minor will appeal to both business and non-business students with an interest in furthering their knowledge of the wine industry in general, and in developing and growing a wine business.
Graduate and postgraduate study
For those who wish to gain further skills in viticultural and oenological research or wine business and marketing, studies and projects are available in the following programs:

Preparative study
USQ Head Start provides an opportunity for Year 12 students in the Gateway Schools program and PICSE program to study WIN1101 Grape & Wine Production prior to finishing high school.
Additional options currently under development

Exploring the exemption process - an ongoing project to investigate the granting of exemptions to potential students with wine industry experience.

Developing articulation from TAFE programs - an ongoing project to investigate articulation from Certificate IV and Diploma courses offered by Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE.

Developing other levels of study - programs under development include a Master of Technology (Wine), a Graduate Certificate in Technology (Wine), Diploma and Associate Degree qualifications in viticulture and winemaking.
Education and industry support

Support for the Wine Tourism Gateway schools - faculty staff contribute to the Gateway Schools Young Winemakers program at QCWT through assisting with crushing and processing of grapes and the conduct of wine laboratory sessions. Faculty staff also present professional development and update workshops for teachers.

Support for the wine industry - faculty staff participate in conduct of industry workshops on wine analysis

Support for the QCWT Wine Analysis Service - faculty staff provide technical support and advice for the wine analytical service and other technical matters.
