B Block Foyer Displays

Development and History of the University

There's an eye-catching permanent display in the B Block Foyer, adjacent to the Chancellery stairwell. The display has been mounted by the USQ Historical Archives and has, as its theme, the development and history of the University, from the dedicated work of the Darling Downs University Establishment Association in the 1960's, through to its development as an Institute and college over 25 years to its gaining of University status on 1 January 1992.

On display is some interesting memorabilia from past celebrations and anniversaries including photographs and a letter written by Dr McGregor in 1966, representing the struggle to present a case for a university on the Downs. Also featured in the display are items reflecting the role of the university in both indigenous, distance and international education.

Major Awards and Prizes

A second display at the foot of the Chancellery stairwell is made up of major awards and prizes afforded USQ over many years in its diverse areas of activity.  These include a number of national and international awards recognising USQ's leadership in open and flexible education.
