Public Memory Research Centre (PMRC)

The Public Memory Research Centre will co-ordinate a multi and transdisciplinary group of researchers working across the humanities from:

  • visual and performing arts
  • anthropology
  • history
  • literature
  • philosophy
  • communications
  • cultural and gender studies
  • sociology and international relations.

Main objective

The Public Memory Centre’s core research objective is to investigate the ways in which the past is archived, understood and utilised by contemporary societies. The Centre will undertake research which is internationally and nationally significant in quality; but it will also be interested in local and regional opportunities, affirming the University’s service commitments to the cultural life of its region. The University has significant expertise in this area with staff with good research records interested in developing collaborative as well as solo projects.
