Selection criteriaThe following criteria will be used by the selection panel to assess applications for support under this program.
Applicants are expected to comply strictly with the application guidelines. The text must be well written and explain the project as clearly and concisely as possible, providing all the information that the selection panel will require to assess the application against competing proposals.
The proposal should demonstrate a conceptual advance in the understanding and knowledge of a subject and/or practical outcomes of social or economic value. Applicants should detail the scientific, theoretical or technological merit of the proposal.
Duration and fundsProjects will be supported for a twelve-month period and applications are invited from individuals or small teams (all of whom must be early career researchers). Funds will be available as from 1 July 2008 (Round 1) and 1 Dec 2008 (Round 2) with the expectation that allocations will be expended in full or committed for expenditure by 31 July 2009 (Round 1) and 31 Dec 2009.
