The Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) initiative assesses research quality within Australia's higher education institutions using a combination of indicators and expert review by committees.
The Australian Research Council (ARC) has rated research at USQ as world-class in a nationwide study. Mapping the areas of research carried out by Australian universities over a six-year period from 2003, the Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) study determined USQ as performing world-class research in the four clusters of:

USQ's ERA 2012 submission has been forwarded to the Australian Research Council. Universities are awaiting the outcome of the 2012 study.
